Ingredients:

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 4 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 2 packs ramen noodles
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water

Instructions:

  1. Whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, cornstarch, and water in a small bowl until the cornstarch is fully dissolved.
  2. Heat 1 tbsp of oil over medium-high heat until it shimmers. Add the sliced beef in a single layer, sear undisturbed for 2 minutes, flip and cook for 1 more minute. Remove beef from the pan and set aside.
  3. Add the remaining 1 tbsp of oil to the same pan. Add broccoli and stir for 1 minute. Pour in a splash of water, cover with a lid, and steam for 3 minutes until bright green.
  4. Boil ramen noodles for 2 minutes (undercooked), drain, and rinse with cold water.
  5. Add the drained noodles and cooked beef with its juices back into the pan with the broccoli. Pour the sauce over the mixture and toss for 1-2 minutes until the sauce thickens into a glossy glaze.
