Ingredients:

  • 1 lb fresh green beans, trimmed
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 3 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp cracked black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Place a 12-inch cast iron or stainless steel skillet over medium-high heat. Melt the butter until it begins to foam.
  2. Add the trimmed green beans and smashed garlic to the skillet. Sauté for 2–3 minutes, shaking the pan frequently, until the beans develop small charred blisters.
  3. Pour in 2 tablespoons of water (or chicken stock). Immediately cover the pan with a lid and steam for 2 minutes.
  4. Remove the lid and stir in the honey, salt, and pepper. Increase heat to high and stir constantly for 1–2 minutes until the liquid reduces into a thick, glossy syrup that coats the beans.
  5. Remove from heat immediately once the glaze has thickened to avoid burning.
