Ingredients:

  • 8 oz (225g) full-fat cream cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
  • 4 cups (480g) powdered sugar, sifted
  • 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp (1.5g) salt

Instructions:

  1. Place the softened cream cheese and unsalted butter in the mixing bowl. Beat on medium-high speed for 2–3 minutes until the mixture is pale, smooth, and completely devoid of lumps.
  2. Reduce the mixer speed to low. Stir in the vanilla extract and salt. Mix for 30 seconds until just combined.
  3. Gradually add the sifted powdered sugar, one cup at a time. Start on the lowest speed to avoid a sugar cloud, then increase to medium for about 1 minute per addition. Stop mixing the moment the frosting is smooth and holds a soft peak.
