Ingredients:
- 1 lb fresh string beans, trimmed
- 2 tbsp water
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ tsp kosher salt
- ¼ tsp freshly cracked black pepper
- 1 tsp fresh lemon juice
- 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 pinch red pepper flakes
Instructions:
- Wash the beans thoroughly and pat them dry. Trim the stem ends, avoiding cutting too deep into the bean.
- Heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering. Toss in the beans and sauté for 3-5 minutes until small, mahogany-colored blister marks develop.
- Pour in the water and immediately cover the skillet with a lid. Let the beans steam for 2-3 minutes until al dente.
- Remove the lid and let any remaining water evaporate. Lower the heat to medium and add the butter, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Stir constantly for 1-2 minutes until the butter is foamy and the garlic is fragrant.
- Remove from heat. Drizzle with fresh lemon juice and sprinkle with Parmesan and red pepper flakes. Toss to coat in the glaze.
